Radio Flyer Alumni

Melissa joined Radio Flyer in 2009. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, but over the years kept moving east. She attended Miami University of Ohio, and then moved for her job to the New York area and then Philadelphia. She eventually moved back to Chicago to be closer to her family. She and her husband love spending time with their niece and nephews. She feels Radio Flyer is an amazing brand and team to be a part of—and is proud to be a “Flyer” (what we call our employees). Her career has always been in marketing and she couldn’t imagine doing anything else. She loves the product innovation process, consumer research and planning new product launches. For fun, she enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, organizing (yes, this is fun for her – she loves shopping at the Container Store), and decorating her home.

I love quotes. They inspire me to think differently and put things into perspective. A couple of my favorites are:

1)  “Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”

2) “In the end, what we regret most are the chances we never took.”

3)You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”

Favorite Outdoor Activity:

Leisure biking, especially in Hilton Head, my favorite vacation spot.

Favorite outdoor escape:

Being by the ocean is always a great escape from the hustle of the city.

Favorite outdoor game as a kid:

Playing tag

Favorite childhood memory:

Making forts with my brother and sister. We would create “architecture masterpieces” with sheets, chairs, broomsticks, pillows, and anything else we could find.

Favorite activity to do with your family:

Just spending time together: whether it’s cooking, traveling, making s’mores in the backyard, or watching movies together.

If I could go anywhere in the world, I’d go to:

Vacation on a hut over the ocean on a tropical island like Bora Bora.

Favorite Radio Flyer Product and why:

Classic Walker Wagon. It’s my favorite 1st birthday gift. My two best friends’ kids learned to walk right after I gave it to them. To be able to give a gift that helps a kid achieve a milestone, that’s a special gift.
