Ghosts & glistening lights, pumpkins & porch displays, witches & window adornments – who else is loving all the festive Halloween decorations popping up around the neighborhood? We know we are! In addition to 10 fun ideas for celebrating Halloween this year, Radio Flyer has a fun new way to (pumpkin) spice up your next family walk…a Halloween Scavenger Hunt!

Simply pile into your wagon and bring our printable Halloween Scavenger Hunt for kids as a reference for your spooky sightings along the way. Which family member can spot a scary skeleton first? Who can find the plumpest pumpkin? Everyone will love this festive family activity. Here are three ideas to make your scavenger hunt even more exciting.

1. Use as a Coloring Sheet – Color the pictures on this printable as you spot them. Mom or Dad, you can bring a couple of crayons to use along the way. Or, you can wait until after your walk to color your masterpiece for some frightful fridge art.

2. Clever Counting Game – Perfect for little ones learning to count, use your printable sheet to play a counting game. Instead of crossing off or coloring in the scavenger hunt items after you spot them, count how many of each you spot. For example, for each pumpkin you pass by, write a tally mark in the pumpkin square on the sheet. To make things more interesting for big kids, guess how many of each item you’ll spot before heading out on the walk. When you get back, see who had the closest guesses!

3. Dress Up for your Walk – Halloween isn’t complete without a costume – why not break yours out a little early? Make it a true Halloween Hunt by getting decked out in your costume for extra fun flare. There are plenty of creative ways to incorporate your wagon into your costume too!
