Little Red Stories
I sit back now and see how far Radio Flyer has come. If I remember correctly it was on my 5th birthday, back in 1963, my family was celebrating my special day. Of course it's a day that always keeps you awake the night before, anticipating what is to come. I always thought it would be the most special day in my life. Well this year it really was, I use to ask Santa for a special red wagon everytime I sat on his lap, but it never happened. To my surprise, and it truly was, on this day my dad walked around the side of the house with this brightest red wagon, and the biggest red bow my little eyes ever saw. I was so happy, it was to me a memory I would never forget.. I always thought, I must have done something really good to get this kind of gift for my birthday. There were five kids in our family, my mom stayed home and took care of the kids, while dad went to work everyday in a factory. I look back now, and realize what they had to give up to make one little girl the happiest girl on the block. I thank God everyday, for having the best mom & dad in the whole world. Now I do this for my kids, and my grand kids as often as I can. Thanks for giving me the chance to at least try to do the same for my 2 grand daughters.
We got our oldest daughter a red wagon for her second birthday. We used it for our other two girls and the kids that lived around us. In 1989 we moved to Florida and the wagon came with us. We kept it in the attic untill our oldest daughter who received it at the age of two told us she was pregnant and expecting a boy.. my husband got the wagon down and took it apart and cleaned it up..He painted it blue and we gave it to her at the shower filled with things for the baby.. she still has and uses it four boys later. The boys are 8,6,4,and 22mtsold and they still love riding In it our daughter is now 32 years old. It has been and always will be a very special wagon in our family
About 46 years ago, my husband’s family bought a brand new station wagon. To their surprise, they were given a brand new Radio Flyer wagon with their purchase of the car. My husband and his siblings were so happy to have this wagon. They enjoyed it through the years. When we had our first child, my husband’s parents gave us the wagon. We had our second daughter, and the girls would love the wagon for years. Now our oldest has two boys of her own. We decided it’s time to buy them their own wagon. My husband still uses the original wagon. He carries things from the shed to the garage. And uses it for many other things. I feel like this wagon has come full circle, I really loved hearing the story of how Radio Flyer came to be. This summer we took our grandson Luke to Old Orchard shopping mall. Luke got to try the wagon and he loved it. We are so happy to order a custom wagon for Luke and Logan and know that they will enjoy it for years to come. Thank you Radio Flyer :)
Our Radio Flyer ATW goes with us everywhere. As a teacher, I have the privilege to spend my summers with my two kids. We visit the zoo at least once a week and the Radio Flyer makes every trip. This summer it also was used as protecton from the GIANT bugs at the zoo. We love our Radio Flyer and can't wait to make more family memories utilizing it.
I was born and raised in a small coal mining town in PA. Of course my dad worked in the coal mine so my parents couldnt afford to buy a radio flyer for us kids We would go to my grandparents in Gettysburg every other weekend. It was so exciting because we would go to the battle field. However my best part of the wekend was going in my grandpas garage and pulling out the old metal radio flyer. I would go up and down the driveway pulling my dolls in the wagon. That was in the early 60s and the red radio flyer was all metal except the tires. It was such fantastic memories i bought a radio flyer to pull my children around. Then bought one to pull my grandsons around. When they outgrew the wagon my grandsons used it to pull around their "special" rocks bugs, pine cones. Anything they thought was special. Three generations have loved and enjoyed great memories with the red radio flyer
