After 5 years of infertility and 4 miscarriages we were finally pregnant!!! Everything was going great until at 38 weeks my Dr. wanted me to have a late pregnancy ultra sound. While the tech was measuring the fetus I knew something was off (I worked in the ob field as well) She told me she had to get the Doctor. At that point my world was turned upside down. The Doctor came in and asked all kinds of genetics questions. He said the baby's arms and legs stopped growing and they could not give us a diagnosis. He finally said we don't know if my baby would be lethal. Lethal?? What does that mean as I felt my heart sink into my stomach. Long story short Emma was born in June. Shortly after her birth she was diagnosised with Achondroplasia which was a form of dwarfism. Her first year she had over 100 apointments including spinal surgery, sleep studies, and tons of therapy. While pregnant we didn't know if she would live but what makes this story so special here Emma is 2 years later playing with all of her toys in her Radio Flyer wagon just like any other normal kid at a 4th of July party. Seeing her play and smile makes me forget all the fears and tough times we had. It fills my heart with even more joy not only is she here she is healthy and Happy.
