Spencer is the most amazing 6 year old you will ever meet. After being born with a heart defect, Spencer has undergone 3 open-heart surgeries to repair the defect. At 17 months old, Spencer suffered a brain hemorrhage and hemorrhagic stroke. Since then, he has had numerous surgeries to correct everything from hydrocephalus to hip dysplasia. His most recent surgery was December 13, 2013. He underwent a (second) hip osteotomy on his right hip. Because it was the second time the surgery had been done, Spencer was placed in a spica cast (the red and green cast pictured) for 3 months!! Had it not been for our red Radio Flyer wagon, I'm not sure how we would've been able to mobilize him in public. He couldn't fit in his wheelchair because of his cast, and the rental chair we were given was too big to transport in our car. Our "little red wagon" was a lifesaver. It was the only way we were able to give Spencer mobility while he was in his spica (12.13.13 to 3.10.14). I'm really not sure how we would've managed without it. And now that the cast is off, Spencer and his 4 year old sister, Harper, can enjoy our Radio Flyer together. The picture to the very left was taken on March 10, the day the cast came off. Thank you for Radio Flyer for your awesome products and for our red wagon!
